Dr. Sharen Galabi Anghel is the Chair of the Department of Medicine at Overlook Medical Center, who calls Metuchen HOME. Sharen is the mom of three amazing kids and the wife of an amazingly talented graphic artist and soccer coach, Tamir Anghel.
When she’s not manning the front lines combatting the COVID-19 pandemic, she’s posting detailed information on Facebook to provide education about the vaccines. Using the hashtag #Factnotfiction, she has documented her own vaccine journey and posted updates about the latest developments. “I think it’s important for people to hear this information from someone they know and trust to break through the noise and misinformation out there,” she says. Sharan has close friendships with many people in the Metuchen community, who she thinks of as family and wants to keep safe.
Sharan comes from a great big family of Coptic Egyptians who normally see each other often in large gatherings, so she’s working hard on getting back to being all together again.
Sharen is exceptionally proud and excited about the Metuchen “team vaccine” that has been helping folks find appointments to be vaccinated. Team vaccine is an amazing community effort where volunteers are finding appointments for community members by sifting through a vast amount of locations and tracking available appointments for people and matching them up. We are proud to have her as a neighbor and community resource.
